July 22nd was national BMX day and to celebrate Monster energy puts on a contest for cities around the world. In the wonderful city of Philadelphia for 2 years in a row we filled the streets with 400 plus kids and grown adults on bikes. Some came from three states away and others were locals but no matter where people came from we all had a connection. This event is one never to be missed, the unity and hope that you receive is unbelievable. The photos in the gallery is just a taste of madness from the day. On Saturday the 28th I traveled to Cape May, New Jersey for a small jam of skaters and BMX. His backyard setup was great, it was small but very nice. The start of the day was introduced by a newly found weak spot in the ramp but was quickly fixed. As riders started showing up hotdogs and burgers were thrown on the grill with some beer to wash it all down. Around dusk we started up the camp fire, turned on the lights and continued to ride. The fire was attempting to claim some attention that night as we had one person roll into it from bailing out of a trick and a few skateboards almost become firewood. All in all it was a great day of riding with the company of some great people.
This president day I went to Fdr Skate park for a few laps around on a glorious day. I wasn’t the only one with this thought that morning. I meet a rider who was shredding it all morning and managed to shoot a few shots of him. Soon after he showed a family of 6 showed up in this 15 passenger bus with multiple bikes on the back. This family was great all 4 kids had a bike and rode with passion. I managed to shoot their dad and two of the children. Watch out these kids might have a bright future in BMX!
In between work this summer I tried to get out and enjoy the day by riding and hanging out with friends. I managed to shoot with a few friends while riding. Here are some of my favorites!
Today was the end of season trails jam for ohara trails local to Delaware county. These trails are located on land being sold. The future of these fast paced, ever changing jumps could possibly be torn down in the next few years or possibly turn into a bike park depending on who purchases this land. This was a great day with a lot of heavy hitters out there!
On this day a big event was held by Monster energy where riders from Europe came to Philadelphia and held a day long competition. The event was great, it was a total success.
